🔥 Cardamom! I was inspired by the fire drink I had yesterday! 🔥🎋 Cardamom is a tropical shrub in the ginger family. It is used in Indian food, both savory and sweet and has been used in Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine.
🎋 Cardamom's another wonder spice! 🎋 Cardamom can be consumed by making a tea, chewing the seeds or adding the ground seeds (powder) to foods. 🎋 Chewing the seeds is said to relieve indigestion and flatulence. 🎋 Chewing the seeds is also said to freshen breath. Cardamom extracts have also been shown to be effective against oral pathogenic bacteria such as Streptoccoccus mutans and Candida albicans.

Winter Squash! I picked another orange vegetable!🌱 Winter squash comes in many shapes and sizes. A small number are grown commercially, but if you visit farmer's markets or buy seeds and grow them yourself, there is quite a variety.
🌱 Winter squash are highly alkaline, which helps reduce acid in the body (a good thing for the liver and blood). 🌱 Winter squash are substantially filled and concentrated with nutrients. We're back to another grounding root vegetable!🥕 Carrots and their juice are a great detoxifier when consumed in quantity. 🥕 They are alkalinizing, cleansing, nourishing, and stimulating to almost every system in the body. 🥕 Carrots deliver easily assimilated vitamins, minerals, and enzymes to cells, so that they can slough off wastes and rebuild healthy cells. 🥕 Carrots are one of the best foods for the liver and digestive tract. 🥕 Carrots help kidney function. 🥕 Carrots balance the endocrine and adrenal system. Ginger! This one's really exciting!☕️Ginger is one of the oldest and most popular medicinal spices.
☕️ Ginger promotes the overall circulation in the body. It also acts as a stimulant for those who are lethargic or recovering from an illness. Happy Friday!!! Let me introduce mushrooms, the immune boosting powerhouse. Especially during cold and flu season, adding mushrooms to your diet is super beneficial! 🍄 🍄 All mushrooms are said to absorb and then eliminate toxins, including, undesirable fat in the blood and pathogens and excess mucous from the respiratory system. 🍄 I'll start with button mushrooms since they're the most common, just know that other types are far more flavorful and have even more benefits! Also, try to buy organic button mushrooms because otherwise they are a very chemical intensive crop. 🍄 🍄 Button mushrooms are heart healthy. They reduce inflammation in the arterial cells and prevent white blood cells from sticking to arterial walls. 🍄 When I think of mushrooms, I think of their immune boosting properties. Button mushrooms boost the immune system by increasing the activity of natural killer cells (the cells that respond to foreign invaders such as viruses and cancer cells). 🍄 Button mushrooms have been found effective in treating breast, colon, and prostate cancers. According to a study in the December 2006 issue of "Cancer Research," eating one 1/2 cup of button mushrooms a day can stop the growth of breast cancer tumors. A healthy woman may eat less than 1/2 cup to greatly reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. Cinnamon is beneficial for more than apple pie. Especially, this time of year! 🍎 Cinnamon is the dried, inner bark a tropical evergreen laurel species native to India and Sri Lanka.
🍎 The Arabs, who first brought cinnamon to the West, wove many myths and stories about it's origins to frighten off rival traders. 🍎Cinnamon contains a substance that kills various fungi, bacteria, and other microorganisms, including Staphylococcus aureas, responsible for staph infections, and also the organism responsible for botulism, and many others I think I know why I haven't gotten sick this winter. (Knock on wood).
🍋 I drink warm water with half a lemon squeezed into it first thing every morning, because it helps flush out toxins built up for removal durning the night. 🍋 Lemons stimulate the liver and gallbladder, stirring up any inactive acids and toxic settlements that can't be eliminated any other way. 🍋 Although acidic to the taste, lemons have a strong alkaline reaction in the body, because of lemon's mineral content. Parsley's a lot more than a garnish!🌱Parsley is a member of the carrot family and there are more than 37 varieties.
🌱The two varieties we see most often are the curly leaved (most often used as a garnish) and flat leaved Italian parsley. 🌱Italian parsley tends to more tender and have a stronger flavor than curly leaved parsley. Yes, sweet potatoes contain more sugar than regular potatoes but about half the starch in general. The good thing is that both sweet potatoes and regular potatoes contain resistant starch which means the starch takes a longer time to convert to sugar in your body. Plus, unlike other sugary snacks, they are nutrient dense. So satisfy that sweet craving with sweet potatoes! The most interesting fact about sweet potatoes! The incredible, edible kale.Kale is a member of the cabbage family. It's really easy to grow and is resistant to cold, so if you have some space to grow it, give it a try! 🌱 Kale is a terrific internal body cleanser. 🌱 Kale is beneficial for the digestive and nervous system (remember that gut/brain connection. 🌱 Kale builds up calcium content in the body. |
