I think I know why I haven't gotten sick this winter. (Knock on wood).

🍋 I drink warm water with half a lemon squeezed into it first thing every morning, because it helps flush out toxins built up for removal durning the night.

🍋 Lemons stimulate the liver and gallbladder, stirring up any inactive acids and toxic settlements that can't be eliminated any other way.

🍋 Although acidic to the taste, lemons have a strong alkaline reaction in the body, because of lemon's mineral content.
🍋 Lemons are a popular home remedy for coughs, colds, and sore throats. Hot lemonade increases perspiration and the production of fluids in the body, so is good to drink before going to bed with a cold. (I also make a hot tea with garlic and add fresh squeezed lemon to the tea).

🍋 Lemon's contain potassium, hydrogen, calcium, phosphorous, sodium, magnesium, iron and silicon.

🍋 Lemons contain limonene, which is used to dissolve gallstones and also is promising as an anti-cancer agent. The highest limonene content is found in the white inner parts of the lemon, which could explain the frozen lemon idea that I've been hearing about lately. The idea is to freeze the lemons, grate them, and then put them in different foods. It's supposed to have anti-cancer properties. I can't back that one up, but what can it hurt!

🍋 Lemons are a terrific source of vitamin C, but it's important to note that much of it is lost if the juice is left exposed to air or stored for very long. So try to squeeze it fresh!

🍋 I wish I would have known this last one a week ago, fresh lemon or lemon juice is supposed to bring immediate relief to the inflammation of poison oak or ivy. I've just suffered this past week from a bad case of poison oak on my legs! Next time
.
🍋🍋 I didn't get every single health benefit, so please share any that you know of that I missed! 🍋🍋
