Do you really want to be healthy and feel great? Follow these three steps to make it happen.1/10/2018 Make it happen! Most people do want to be healthy and feel great. Then, why isn't it a reality for more people? The reality is that there's a big difference between want and intention. Wanting is simply wishing you can have or do a particular thing. Intending means you've committed to achieving something by making an actionable plan, and sticking to it! The key to intention is action! The first step is to get clear on where you are right now and where you want to go. What do you want to accomplish? How do you want your life to be? Take some time to sit down and write what life is like for you right now. How are you feeling? What are your energy levels like? Which habits do you have that are working for you? Which habits aren't? I know it isn't easy, but you can't set a goal of getting up at six in the morning so that you have time to meditate or exercise, then not set your alarm. You might wake up or you might not, if you haven't set the alarm, you haven't really committed. Create your vision. No, you don't have to be airy fairy about it. Just write down what you really want, however it works best for you. Some people like creating a vision board by gathering images and words and making a collage that you can hang and look at to keep you motivated. That's not my style, I prefer to write down a list. Come up with an action plan.Next, decide what you need to do to make your vision happen. Do you know what you need to do to succeed? Are there any resources you need? Write down your action steps. There can be short term and long term action steps. For example, say you want to be healthier and feel better. I would call that a long term goal. The short term goal could be to eat more vegetables, the action step could be to go out and buy the vegetables or sign up for a CSA so that you have the vegetables in your home to eat. Another action step would be to exercise more. Be specific. How much do you intend to exercise and what type(s) of exercise do you intend to do? Schedule your action steps into your life.Prioritize your vision and the action steps you intend to take to reach your goals or make your vision a reality. I know it's easier said than done, but we all have the same 24 hours in each day. This is the hard part, prioritize yourself and schedule your action steps into your calendar. Yes, we are all busy and often feel overwhelmed. Practice saying no. If particular activities or commitments don't serve you, stop doing them. While we can't eliminate everything that makes us busy, we can create more space in our lives by saying no more often. Then prioritize your action steps. Like my mentor, Marie Forleo says, "If it's not scheduled, it's not real." What is your health and wellness goal? How do you intend to make it happen? Share below to hold yourself accountable!
