I have to admit, I've never been a big fan of radishes. 🌱 However, they're very easy to grow, so I would give seeds to my kids to plant when they were young. They come up quickly and are very satisfying. I would use the greens in a salad or stir fry, and give the actual radishes to my neighbor, who loves them. Health Benefits🌱 After researching their health benefits, I think I'll start growing them again, and EAT them! 🌱 Radishes have antibacterial and antifungal properties. Eating them regularly helps to prevent viral infections such as the common cold and the flu. 🌱 Radishes also contain a volatile ether that dissolves mucus or phlegm, cleanses and expels gallstones from the bladder, and cleanses the kidneys. 🌱 The can be especially good for relieving hoarseness, sinus congestion, and sore throats. 🌱 Because they contain enzymes that aid in the secretion of digestive juices, they are beneficial when eating heavy starchy foods. 🌱 The French often put fresh radishes out with salt and butter, before the meal. 🌱 Fresh, raw daikon radish contains a substance that inhibits the formation of carcinogens in the body. 🌱 Radishes are great for detoxification, due to the cleansing properties described above. 🌱 I've often used daikon radishes and any other types that I may have in a cleansing vegetable broth that I make if I'm doing a weeklong food based cleanse. Now I know why! Now to you. Are you a radish fan? Have you ever grown them?
