Those dandelions popping up in your lawn are more valuable than you think.🌼The entire dandelion has health benefits; flower, leaves, and root. It's pretty impressive for a plant with a yellow flower, mostly picked for the mothers by four-year-old girls. 🌼 Make use of those dandelions popping up all over your garden! (provided you don't use any pesticides or herbicides) 🌼 The entire dandelion; flower, leaves, stem, and root have incredible health benefits. 🌼 The leaves can be chopped up and added raw to salads or sautéed with other greens. 🌼 Raw dandelion greens contain a high amount of prebiotics as I just wrote about in my latest blog post. 🌼 One cup of dandelion greens contains over 500% the daily recommended amount of vitamin K, over 100% of Vitamin A, 32% vitamin A, and 10% calcium. 🌼 Dandelions have a very deep tap root that brings minerals from deep in the soil. 🌼 Dandelion is a blood cleanser, tonic and digestive aid. It contains mucilages, which soothe the digestive tract. 🌼 Dandelion absorbs toxins from food regulates intestinal bacteria (prebiotic). 🌼 Dandelion is a liver remedy. It enhances the production of bile, improving liver congestion, bile duct inflammation, hepatitis, gallstones and jaundice. 🌼 In the spring, the greens contain more levulose, which is a sugar easily assimilated by diabetics. 🌼 Dandelion is also a liver cleanser. It stimulates the pancreas and spleen and detoxifies poisons throughout the body, therefore having a beneficial effect on skin disorders, jaundice, menstrual troubles and blood pressure irregularities. 🌼 Dandelion also helps alkalanize the body and is beneficial to teeth and gums. 🌼 The tea made from dandelion flowers is used as a remedy for fatigue, promotes bowel regularity and nourishes the liver. 🌼 The root can be chopped up and added to smoothies, soups, or stocks. 🌼 The root is also roasted, ground, and either added to coffee or used as a coffee substitute. 🌼 Dandelion root shows promise in the treatment of cancer. It also has antibacterial properties, even warding off the bacteria responsible for staph infections. Do you use dandelions; either the flower, greens, or root? What's your favorite preparation?
